AI Review Isn't Enough
I just read Ken Adam’s post on AI review of legal documents.
In the case of services that offer contract templates, if I don’t know who prepared a template, I’m not going to trust it. Even if I do know, I’ll be skeptical unless given good reason not to be.
I had this exact comment the other day with respect to “standard” “form” documents prepared by a large corporation. I know enough from my own journey with MSCD and my own review of similar documents to know that the samples will be bad. Another person released open-source versions of documents “vetted by legal…experts.” <sigh> If you can’t trust the drafting, how can you trust the analysis? All you can do is use it as a starting point, like spell check. If you don’t know the difference between “anxious” and “eager,” Word’s not going to help you.
